Logo has grown up from it's parent (LISP). As you get deeper (past the simple turtle commands) you will quickly see similarities between Logo and it's parent. The "turtle" in early versions used to be a robotic turtle dragging a pen along the floor. The robotic turtle has given way to the screen, which opens up a world of fun for all ages.

As a beginner, you are faced with a turtle on the screen - sometimes shown as a triangle. You can tell the turtle to move forwards:

Turn right and move forwards again (3 times):

And then turn right to face the direction we started:

You have now told the turtle to draw a square. You could also tell the turtle to draw a square this way:

So simple a child can do it!
