Logo has grown up from it's parent (LISP). As you get deeper (past the simple turtle commands) you will quickly see similarities between Logo and it's parent. The "turtle" in early versions used to be a robotic turtle dragging a pen along the floor. The robotic turtle has given way to the screen, which opens up a world of fun for all ages. As a beginner, you are faced with a turtle on the screen - sometimes shown as a triangle. You can tell the turtle to move forwards: Forward 60 Turn right and move forwards again (3 times): Right 90 Forward 60 Right 90 Forward 60 Right 90 Forward 60 And then turn right to face the direction we started: Right 90 You have now told the turtle to draw a square. You could also tell the turtle to draw a square this way: Repeat 4 [Right 90 Forward 100] So simple a child can do it! |
