Editorial standards
The rules an article has to clear before it goes out, and the ones we will not bend.
Accuracy over fluency
We would rather write "typically a few hundred euros" than invent a precise figure that reads better. We do not publish statistics, studies, prices, dates or quotations we cannot stand behind, and we do not cite sources we have not actually consulted. Where the honest answer is that the evidence is thin or contested, the article says that plainly rather than picking a side for the sake of a tidy conclusion.
Specific, or not worth publishing
An article has to contain things that are true of this subject and not of every subject. Real names, real materials, real measurements, real failure modes. Generic advice is the thing we exist to replace.
Safety is part of the instruction, not a disclaimer
Where an activity involves tools, heights, water, fire, dust, electricity, altitude or animals, the protective equipment, ventilation, supervision and training belong in the step where they matter — not in a paragraph at the bottom nobody reads.
What we do not publish
- Medical diagnosis, symptom interpretation, treatment or medication guidance. Wellbeing and personal care are covered as lifestyle, never as medicine.
- Financial, investment, tax or legal advice, including analysis of individual listed companies.
- Armed conflict, political advocacy or partisan argument. Civics and history are covered neutrally.
- Generalisations that demean a gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion or any other group.
- Anything that would not be appropriate for a general, all-ages readership.
When the archive was rebuilt in 2026, eleven legacy articles were retired under these rules rather than rewritten. Their URLs return a clear "gone" response rather than being quietly redirected somewhere unrelated.
Independence
We take no payment for coverage, run no affiliate links, and accept no free products in exchange for a mention. Nothing on this site is sponsored. If that ever changes, it will be labelled on the article itself, not buried here.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected as soon as we can confirm them, and the article notes what changed. Substantive rewrites update the article's revision date, which is what our sitemap reports to search engines — we do not restamp the archive to look busy.
